Hi, my name is Marcin. I used to be one of you. I’ve worked in a large corporation. From the moment I woke up, 5:30 am to be exact, to the end of the day at 11:30 pm – it seemed to me that I was in control of my life. Suddenly, without any previous symptoms, on September 18th 2016, I lost my former life. From that day on being a father and a husband is becoming just a beautiful memory.
It started with a terrible headache. Soon, I lost control over the left side of my body. After the tests at the emergency ward, I found out that I have a brain tumor. It’s about the size of a large mandarin. It had to be removed as quickly as possible if I still wanted to live.
It’s very hard to imagine, that waiting for brain surgery. This is your own head, and something is going to be removed from it! And it seemed like the visit to the ICU is just because your hand is immobile.
The tumor turned out to be the worst possible type of brain cancer, the most malignant glioblastoma multiforme IV.
The disease, in which survival time is assessed at approx. 1 year from the diagnosis, statistically affects 3 people out of 100 thousand. The most important thing you can say about it is: “Thank you, world, it’s not me!”
Life changes dramatically when you face such a terrible disease. A man changes as well. It’s not easy to keep a positive attitude when you’re aware of every single passing day. I hope to use every opportunity I can to stop glioblastoma, also by using the methods and medicines unavailable in Poland. My family and friends are greatly supportive, but non-standard therapies are financially unattainable for us. We’re collecting the funds for the immune treatment – the cost of the therapy is 66 500 EUR.
That’s why I ask for your help! I dream of another Christmas with my family and pray to see my daughter grow up.
Please, support my fight!
